These tech gift are chosen to delight all lovers, whether or not they’re tech lovers! No matter what your budget, you can find a special gift for the object of your devotion.

Lavolta Disco Light Bulb

You and your true love can have rockin’ disco parties with this disco light bulb. What might be the coolest light bulb ever, the Lavolta Crystal Ball Effect light bulb screws into standard lamp sockets and turns your room into a disco instantly.

The disco effects are sound activated so your lights can flash in time to the music.

Check out this video showing you the fun you can have:

The Lavolta Crystal Ball Effect light bulb is available from Parts Express for $9.96.

Building Block Light Switch Plate

Has your loved one been complaining that their light switch plates are too boring? If your sweetheart is a fan of building blocks, check out this light switch that can be both fun and functional. The switch plate serves as a base for building blocks such as Legos, K’NEX Bricks, Mega Bloks and more (blocks not included).

The package comes with two switch plates for $9.99 from ThinkGeek.

Sonvivo Easy Speaker

If your loved one likes sound but also likes tech that’s easy to use, check out the Sonvivo Easy Speaker. This speaker is as easy as it gets — just lay your phone down on the speaker to have the speaker play the music. The speaker uses induction technology to transfer the sound waves from your phone to the speakers.

No need to mess with Bluetooth, wires, apps Wi-Fi or other connections. The Sonvivo works with most Android and iPhones but also lets you use a 3.5mm jack connection (wire included) if your phone isn’t compatible.

This video shows how easy it is to use the Sonvivo Easy Speaker:

The Sonvivo Easy Speaker is available from Mobile Fun for $27.99.

UpWrite Stylus/Stand

If typing on a mobile device is a challenge for your loved one, check out the Upwrite stylus that also works as a stand. This conductive stylus makes typing on a smartphone easier, then props it up at an angle when you’re finished typing and want to view the screen.

Bonus, this stylus also functions as a key chain so you can keep the Upwrite handy wherever you go!

This video shows the Upwrite in action:

The Upwrite is available from Quirky for $27.99.

Chromecast

Chromecast may look like a simple USB stick but in fact it’s a device that lets you stream video from your mobile device or computer to your TV. Use Chromecast to stream Netflix, Google Play, YouTube, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, Pandora and other select videos using your Chrome browser. Just plug Chromecast into your TV, connect it to your WiFi network and stream video or audio from Android devices, iPhones, iPads, Mac and Windows laptops, and Chromebooks.

Here’s a video showing you how much fun you’ll be having when you plug your Chromecast into your TV:

Chromecast is available from Amazon for $35.00.

Tetris Lights

Is your honey a big fan of Tetris? Then check out this Tetris Light that can both illuminate the room and inspire new Tetris moves.

This light comes with seven multi-colored Tetrominoes you can arrange and rearrange to your heart’s content. You can check out a video showing the lights in action at the Firebox website.

The Tetris Lights is available from Firebox for $49.29 with either a US or UK plug.

Here’s a video shot with the Balloon Mapping Kit:

The Balloon Mapping Kit is available from Scientifics Online for $95.00.

Portable Fireplace

Want to snuggle up with your honey but don’t have a fireplace? Don’t let that minor obstacle stop you. Get the Brasa portable fireplace and have a fire anywhere you need one. This portable fireplace will set a romantic mood and generate heat without the need for logs or a chimney.

Nothing says romance like a crackling fire. This video shows you how this fireplace can make a difference in the ambience of a room:

The Brasa fireplace is available from ATG Stores for $425.00.

See, Warm Up to a Virtual Fireplace for other romantic fireplace options.

Jetovator

Give your loved one a thrill with the Jetovator, a gift that takes people to new heights. This water bike will propel you with water jets both above and below the surface of the water.

Check out this fun, fun video showing you how you too can perform barrel rolls and flips with the Jetovator.

The Jetovator is available from Hammacher Schlemmer for $7000.00. This is a gift that says “True Love!” (unless it’s accompanied by a large insurance policy on your life).

GoPro Hero 3+ Camera

If your sweetheart likes extreme sports or living life on the edge, help them capture their most memorable experiences with the GoPro camera. Mount this camera just about anywhere and capture the action as it happens.

If you watched Felix Baumgartner’s jump from a hot air balloon more than 24 miles above the Earth’s surface in October of 2012 then you’ve seen footage shot on a GoPro camera. Here’s a video detailing that jump and how it was shot by the GoPro:

And if you’re going to get your Valentine the Balloon Mapping Kit or the Jetavator, why not also give the GoPro camera to record the fun?

The GoPro Hero3+ is available for $299.00 from Amazon.com.

Hi Carolyn,

Trust you to come up with the apt post, just before Valentine’s :-)

I just keep wondering as to how you gather all such goodies well in time, and they are ALL so wonder, except for the Jetavator! That would really elevate my love…lol! I think I’d go with the Portable Fireplace, though it’s way out of my reach, but just the thought of if makes one feel warm.

Thanks for sharing these with us, and let me share them further all over the place as well now. Have a nice week ahead :-)

Hi Harleena, Yes, these gift articles are always so much fun for me to do! It’s like the ultimate shopping trip for me, finding fun and useful tech. My problem is that I always want everything I find!

Yes, that Jetovator is so very cool. I would love to give that a whirl. I imagine myself flying all over the water and having a great time. It’s like having a jet pack, but if you fall it isn’t so bad. I like that you can use it underwater too, though I think I would be having so much fun flying that I wouldn’t go underwater much.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you, Harleena!

Love your ideas — I’m planning to get my loved one a chrome cast Looking forward to using it myself too! It was a hard choice tho — that disco lamp brought back some good memories of some very fun times in the late 70′s & early 80′s. Let’s disco & conquer the world!!! Thx for ALL of your awesome advice & tips.

Carolyn Nicander Mohr February 10, 2014 at 12:02 pm

Hi Jamie, I’m so glad you like these gifts. Yes, the Chromecast is a great give for your loved one because you can enjoy it too! And you’re right, for the price of a light bulb you can turn your home into a true disco. Who wouldn’t want that? :-bd

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Jamie!

Looks good, but I suppose jewelry would be more classy and much better idea.

Hi Kaloyan, I respectfully disagree. It’s a well-kept secret that women much prefer tech gifts to jewelry. At least I do! :-)

Woow, these are incredible collection of gifts. Some of them I haven’t seen before and the best on is “Jetovator”. The movement I saw the pic, for fraction of second I thought it’s “Jetpack”. made me very curious unless I watched the video which made me more surprise.

Now all I have to do is to find a girlfriend that can gift me “Jetovator” ;-)

Awesome article Carolyn

Carolyn Nicander Mohr February 11, 2014 at 7:37 am

Hi Katy, You’re exactly right, the Jetovator is just like a jetpack for the water. That’s much better if you have a rough landing! I agree, the Jetovator is really the best gift. You still have three days to find a girlfriend who will give you one. If Cupid doesn’t visit you by then, you could always give yourself the gift you deserve! :-bd

Happy Valentine’s Day, Katy.

Hi Carolyn,

i have a question, is it possible to buy the Googlechromecast here in Nigeria? and secondly, will it work over here?

Thanks for sharing, aside the intending purchase of the chromecast, I’m planning to spend the valentine day with my wife and baby at the beach, movie theatres and finally at the church, for evening service.

Do have a nice day!!

Hi James, You may have to wait a bit to buy Chromecast in Nigeria. It currently isn’t available outside the US but rumors abound that it will be launched in the UK beginning March 1.

Hi Carolyn,

I want the sports camera. The Chromecast looks handy too, but not available officially in the UK yet. I had an email from Amazon this morning saying they would be delivering one of my parcels and as I read it the doorbell rang! How’s that for service! I have ordered a mount for my car soI can take photos and HD video as I drive. The remote control came this morning. It’s quite cool. I put the camera on a windowsill and from several yards away I was able to trigger the shutter, it also focused well before taking the shot. I must try it with my tripod. Unfortunately my tripod is in the car and as usual it’s pouring with rain! I shall be testing those out soon and filters too. I have a few filters and Cokin filters to test. I’m buying a 300mm lens soon too. I found one for £150 in Hong Kong!

Today’s exciting news is that a prestigious wealth management company quoted me on their website. Not by name but they referred to me as a ‘art critic’ and linked back to my blog! They advise people on investing in art. Fame at last! :-)

Hi Mike, Well you definitely are an art critic. You even critique your own art on your blog.

The GoPro is very cool. I love how it takes action shots no matter where you are.

The Chromecast is supposed to be coming to the UK next month. That’s what I got for my husband for Valentine’s Day!

I love your idea Carolyn.

Lavolta Disco Light Bulb is a good choice but as a tech savvy I’ll prefer Chromecast or Sonvivo Easy Speaker.

Carolyn Nicander Mohr February 16, 2014 at 12:33 pm

Hi Swarup, Yes, the Disco Light Bulb is a very inexpensive way to turn any room into a disco. How much fun is that?

The Chromecast and Sonvivo Easy Speaker can also bring a lot of fun to any room. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, Swarup!
